           There are vehicles you buy… and then there are vehicles you chase.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This one took six months.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Back and forth. Waiting. Timing. Making sure it was the right move. And now it’s finally sitting here at the ranch. A fully functional, street legal Gama Goat that feels less like a purchase and more like we just acquired a piece of living history.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What makes this thing different
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Gama Goat was never meant to be pretty or comfortable. It was built to solve a problem. The U.S. military needed something that could move people and equipment through terrain that would stop just about anything else. Deep mud, uneven jungle floors, water crossings. This was the answer.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What you notice immediately is how unusual it looks. It’s not one solid vehicle. It’s two halves connected by a pivot. That articulation is what lets it crawl over obstacles while keeping all six wheels working. Watching it move is half the experience. It bends and flexes in a way that doesn’t feel real until you see it in person.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s powered by a Detroit Diesel engine and it sounds exactly like you’d expect. Loud, mechanical, unapologetic. No computers smoothing anything out. Just raw function.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Street legal, which makes it even better
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This isn’t just something that sits in a barn.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s already street legal.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That changes everything.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We’re not just looking at it or restoring it. We can actually drive it. Take it out. Let people see it. Hear it. Experience it the way it was meant to be experienced. There’s something different about rolling something like this down a normal road. It doesn’t blend in. It doesn’t try to.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           All we’ve got left is getting it registered and throwing a plate on it. After that, it’s fair game.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;

           Why this one matters
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There’s no shortage of classic cars out there. Plenty of builds, plenty of restorations. But something like this hits different.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is Cold War era engineering that was built with one goal in mind. Get through anything.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           No fluff. No extra. Just capability.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And the fact that it’s still here, still running, and now sitting at our place ready for its next chapter… that’s what makes it worth the wait.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;

           What’s next
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We didn’t bring this in to let it sit.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We’re going to run it. Test it. Put it in the kind of environments it was built for. And yeah, probably take it places it was never expected to go either.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There’s also something to be said for preserving it the right way. Keeping the character, the sound, the feel. Not overbuilding it into something it was never meant to be.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Just bringing it back to life and letting it do what it was designed to do.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           What started as a place to work on cars has turned into something more. It’s not just about the builds. It’s about the environment you build them in.

           The first thing you notice when you move your projects out to the country is space.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Real space.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Not “shuffle things around so you can get to the toolbox” space. We’re talking:

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

            Room to spread out full builds
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Multiple projects going at once
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Space to step back and actually see what you’re working on
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;

            Test, tune, and troubleshoot without stress

            No constant interruptions.

            Just the sound of tools, engines, and whatever project you’re bringing back to life.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It gives you room to think.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Some of the best ideas don’t come when you’re rushing. They come when you’ve got space to slow down, look at something from a different angle, and figure it out the right way.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           They’ve been here longer than we have, and they’ve made it very clear this is their place. Every project gets inspected. Every new addition gets a look.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And somehow, there’s always one of them nearby when something interesting is happening.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s part of the rhythm out here.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
            Wrench, step back, look at the build… and there’s a donkey standing there like they’ve got an opinion.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           It doesn’t make the cars faster, but it definitely makes the process better.

This year, we finally built the space worthy of those rescues:

           our brand-new, hurricane-rated Hot Rod Barn.

    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           And yes… Pancho and Cisco supervised every step.

           , creating a rock-solid base ready to support our growing fleet of hot rods, drag builds, restoration projects, and the occasional “what even is that?” rolling chassis we drag home.

           At Hot Rod Donkey Ranch, we don’t just build custom hot rods and transform race machines into street-legal beasts — we also share the property with two of the most unexpected shop supervisors you’ll ever meet.

           Pancho and Cisco, our resident miniature donkeys, came with the ranch long before we ever turned a wrench on this land. They’re about six years old, stubborn in all the right ways, and living proof that sometimes you don’t own a donkey — the donkey owns you.

           But honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

           Pancho and Cisco have made it clear: if you’re working on a project anywhere on the property, they need to know about it.

           Whether we’re bending metal, rebuilding a carb, or fine-tuning a street-legal setup, these two wander right over like inspectors on shift. You’ll often find them sticking their noses into toolboxes, sniffing new parts, or standing silently behind you like they’re offering moral support....or judging your torque specs.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Their job titles might technically be “miniature donkeys,” but around here they’re:

           Pancho and Cisco aren’t all work. Like any respectable ranch residents, they enjoy:

           Dirt Baths

           A freshly groomed donkey lasts about three minutes. They roll like they’re auditioning for a dust-themed commercial.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;

          &#xD;

           Every evening, as the sun drops behind the trees, Pancho and Cisco join us for “happy hour.” Donkeys don’t drink wine, of course..... but they absolutely enjoy standing nearby while we do, soaking in the breeze, the quiet, and the end of another day on the ranch.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It’s become a ritual: hot rods cooling down in the shop, donkeys chilling in the yard, and that golden light that makes everything look like a country-living magazine cover… except with more grease, tools, and donkey hair.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h3&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Cisco's Bird Buddy.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h3&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Cisco, for reasons known only to the animal kingdom, has a tiny white bird that’s basically claimed him as its personal ride.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           It never hangs out with Pancho — only Cisco. It follows him around the property, perches nearby, and sometimes even rides on his back like they’re starring in some ranch-themed buddy movie.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ﻿
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At this point, we’re convinced they’ve formed a cross-species friendship pact. Cisco pretends not to notice… but he totally loves the attention.

To call it a car show undersells it entirely. This is the Olympics of elegance, the Met Gala of motoring. Held on the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Concours offers a stage as breathtaking as its performers: hundred-million-dollar coachbuilt icons, race winners with storied pasts, and impossibly rare prototypes that have transcended utility to become pure art. The crowd is as glamorous as the machinery – enthusiastic financiers, designers, racers, and celebrities make their annual pilgrimage to the Monterey coastline to join like-minded enthusiasts from all walks of life creating community.

            in Sylmar, California to do what gearheads do first—photograph the cars. The gallery below is all vehicles: concours-level restorations and coachbuilt icons that explain why the Nethercutt name carries serious weight on the show field.
